Keenoy Kardinal News                                                                 October 19, 2018 Dear Families, We have had out of town activities for the last several weekends, so I am very much looking forward to a relaxing weekend at home. I plan on holding on to the Green Work Study Habits this weekend so that I can start working on progress reports at home.   If I have any major concerns this week, I will make sure to communicate that with you today.   Thank you for all your continued support and I really look forward to visiting with you at conferences.   Vocabulary Hat Day Thank you for your assistance with the vocabulary hats. We had a great time parading around Paxton showing off our hats to students and adults. The creativity is amazing! Hopefully, all of the 5th graders learned a plethora of new words   Kardinal of the Week:   Darrihia C. Hello, my name is Darrihia and I’m ten years old.   I live with my mom, step dad,

Keenoy Kardinal News                                                   October 12, 2018 Dear Families, I hope that everyone had a terrific week.   Again, thank you so much for your generosity with the Paxton Carnival basket.   I’m confident that our basket will earn a high bid, which will benefit our school.   St. Louis Blues just started their season last week.    My father in law shares season tickets and I’m lucky enough to go to several games each year.   Maybe this year they will win the Stanley Cup! Dr. Stiepleman's Visit to Room 209 The Superintendent of Columbia Public Schools stopped by our classroom recently.  He emailed me a picture and shared how impressed he was with our class during his visit.  I used to work with Dr. Stiepleman several years back and enjoyed seeing him again. Kardinal of the Week-Ariyana B. Hello, my name is Ariyana.   I have two brothers and one sister. My sister likes taking pictures and my brothers like bask

Hello, my name is Kameron.  My dream is to be a US Marine.  I like collecting artifacts from old Marine bases.  After I am finished with serving as a Marine, I would like to be a firefighter.  I love playing football.  Football and Basketball are my favorite sports.  These are the things that I would like to do when I grow up. Keenoy Kardinal News                                                       9-21-18 Dear Families, I hope that everyone had a wonderful week.   Overall the Keenoy family is doing well and staying busy as always.   I needed to take a personal day on Wednesday this week.    I own a small section of property located about an hour south of St. Louis.   Unfortunately, a low water bridge collapsed near the property, and I’m currently working with the Missouri Department of Conservation to get it fixed.   Although I was able to get a couple hours of fishing fun in, it was a mostly working trip.   This class is AMAZING for me each day, but on Wednesday we had a few bumps in the road with the substitute.   I’m confident that if I must be gone again, they will do a much better job during my absence.   Have a wonderful week and thank you very much for your support each day! Kardinal of the Week We scheduled a student per week to share information about themselves.   The Kardin

Keenoy Kardinal News                                        9-14-18 Dear Families, I hope that everyone had a terrific week.   The Keenoy family will stay extremely busy with kiddo activities.   Caleb and Gabby have soccer games and Natalie has gymnastics.   I’m happy that Caleb’s soccer will give me a chance to visit with my Grandma in St. Louis on Saturday.   I hope that the weekend treats you very well! Our classroom is also entering a silent auction basket. Our theme basket this year is the St. Louis Blues Hockey Team!    Please send in donations so that our basket will appeal to others and will receive many bids.        Math Students took an assessment over Unit 1 (Area/Volume) on Friday.   These will be scored and shared with you next week.   Although I would love for each student to have mastered all the Unit 1 concepts, I need to keep reminding myself that our new math curriculum spirals.   This means that many of the concepts taught will show up again lat
